This poem is dedicated to someone very important.

My love was once a fire pure
Burning hot and clean.
Now the signal's slick with smoke
From oil and gasoline

I've seen a lot of bridges burned
By my consuming fire.
And watched each girl I've loved become
Impurities on the pyre.

But all the while through each heart break
My soul continues singing.
And it beats on, my wounded heart
Though every cut keeps stinging.

As I look forward, I cannot see
An end to loss and yearning.
But though the smoke grows thick and black
I'll keep this fire burning.
